Being a mom, we already know our heart is not our own and each and every choice is for our children forever more. Well, for Emily Maynard; our current southern belle Bachlorette, another important choice is on her priority list – slowly handing out her coveted Roses to each week’s Mister Rights, in hopes to find her soul mate, her heart beat and of course an amazing father figure/ step dad to her daughter Ricki.

Her story is one of love, heart break, inner strength and second chances. She was engaged to famed NASCAR driver and team owner Ricky Hendrick. Tragically, Hendrick died in a plane crash in October, 2004, leaving his fiancée pregnant with their child. The legacy of their love together unfolded as Josephine Riddick Hendrick – Ricki Hendrick was born June 29, 2005.
Raising Ricki clearly is Emily’s first love and passion, BUT now, as we sit with her each week and watch these men, (loosely used term), slowly being dismissed with their broken hearts and naked lapels, we are left to wonder…Can she TRULY find her Prince through the Bachelor/Bachelorette Machine? I’ll be honest, when the Bachelor first aired back in 2002, I thought “A dating competition/reality show?!?! Seriously? NOW I’ve seen it all!”
Cut to 2012 and now we have The Bachelorette which is proving to be just as “guilty pleasure” addictive.
Bottom line, as long as Emily keeps doing what she is doing, which is listening to her heart week after week and correctly weeding out the “fifteen minute garden snakes”, she COULD (and just might) find her True Love.
Eh, it could happen.
To quote Shakespeare “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.”
WHEREVER Emily finds love, through a Hollywood induced Bachelorette Rose OR a Real Life Rose…we’re not worried about this MOM, because THIS MOMZ IN THE MIX is one wise, strong and focused girl!! Whoever she chooses to say “I do!” to and welcome into Ricki’s life will be the Real Deal Holyfield!!
Will we accept this Rose of a MOM??? We most certainly do!!!!!
