We've lost a true Visionary and one amazing MOM!

We've lost a true Visionary and one amazing MOM!

At 12:30 this morning I was up and online. To my deep sadness, I read we just lost Nora Ephron.

I stopped in silence. Not only was she a true Visionary for all women (especially those in the entertainment industry), according to Meryl Streep, she was “an expert in all the departments of living well”.

I found so many of Nora’s close friends paying their touching tributes and sending out their sincere prayerful thoughts to her and her remaining family, I thought, this is so touching I’ll let their voices ring right now with MOMZ IN THE MIX echoing their energy.

This is a VERY touching group paying tribute to the late author-journalist-screenwriter-director, who died Tuesday at 71.

“You could call on her for anything: doctors, restaurants, recipes, speeches, or just a few jokes, and we all did it, constantly.” “Nora just looked at every situation and cocked her head and thought, ‘Hmmmm, how can I make this more fun?” Meryl Streep.

(Meryl was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role as Julia Child in Ephron’s Julie & Julia (2009) .

“At a dinner table and on a film set she lifted us all with wisdom and wit mixed with love for us and love for life.” “Rita and I are so very sad to lose our friend who brought so much joy to all who were lucky enough to know her.” Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson

(Tom Hanks is famously known for his work with Nora in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and You’ve Got Mail (1998)

“Being her Harry to Meg’s Sally will always have a special place in my heart – a “brilliant writer and humorist.” “I was very lucky to get to say her words. ”

(Billy Crystal, who costarred with Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally (1989), and which Ephron wrote and Rob Reiner directed)

“I am so grateful that she was my friend and we had the opportunity to work together. My thoughts and love are with her family at this time. I will never forget the dinners, games and laughter we all shared.” Nicole Kidman,

(Nicole collaborated with Ephron on Bewitched (2005)

“She was the one you wanted to read, to listen to, to be in the company of. Nora Ephron. Incomparable wit; delightful friend. Sadness reigns.” Steve Martin

We are so grateful to have been able to experience such a beautiful spirit, writer, director and MOM. You will be forever missed and most importantly remembered as one MOM who paved the road for smart, strong, independent female stories. Thank you for knowing your true Vein of Gold.

Cynthia and Christine welcome in their first child together

Cynthia and Christine welcome in their first child together

Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni met at an education fundraiser in New York City in January 2004.
Cynthia Nixon has been quoted saying,
“I never felt like there was an unconscious part of me around that woke up or that came out of the closet. There wasn’t a struggle, there wasn’t an attempt to suppress. I met this woman, I fell in love with her, and I’m a public figure.”She added, “I’m in love with [Christine] because she’s her. If she were a man, would I be in love with her? I don’t know. We shop and cook and raise children–we both pitch in.”

Isn’t that the truth!!! To have someone in our lives who’s an equal sounds dreamy doesn’t it? Well, when you consider 37% of all households today have two working partners who bring in the money, it would be so refreshing to come home and find the trash was already taken out and possibly, (I know I’m reaching on this one) have dinner already started!!! Color me crazy!

Cynthia Nixon has two children, Samantha and Charles, from her previous relationship with Danny Mozes. They split up in June 2003. Cynthia says her children have adapted well to her relationship with Christine. She was quoted in the New York Daily News as saying, “They were fine. My son was very little [when it happened], but my daughter has a gay uncle and [her godmothers] are lesbians.”

Cynthia Nixon won a Best Actress Tony Award for her portrayal of a mother suffering the accidental death of her child in the play Rabbit Hole. When the award was announced, she kissed Christine at the awards ceremony.

Released in 2010, Nicole Kidman produced Rabbit Hole with only a 28 day shoot and a budget of $10 million dollars. Rabbit Hole received a standing ovation at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.

Christine Marinoni gave birth to a boy, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, on Monday, Feb. 7,2011.

Congratulation Cynthia and Christine! Here’s to the rest of us finding a our trash emptied for us as well!

Nicole Kidman has Hollywood buzzing with Oscar rumors with her performance in Rabbit Hole. In the movie,Rabbit Hole-which also stars, Aaron Eckhart known for his role in “The Dark Knight” (2008),the award winning actress portrays as a grieving mother coping with the tragedy of losing her 4-year-old son after he is struck to death in a hit and run accident.

The movie also produced by Kidman and directed by James Cameron Mitchell ( Hedwig and the Angry-Inch ) made quite an impact on the audience and critics this past week at Toronto Film Festival. According to a critic,“It’s not half bad.A bit more than that actually. It isn’t quite A-plus or A, but a solid A-minus, and it may begin to penetrate as a Best Picture contender down the road … With 10 nominations, yeah. Any film that inspires critics to clap has a shot in this game. So I think it’s in there. The movie is based on David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Rabbit Hole”.
