A Portrait of a Lady Birthday Party

When it comes to birthday parties…the sky is the limit for themes and activities.
This year, I built her party around one of her all time favorite movies -Little Women.

So, with my long list of Things To Do, I made my way to my local Target (your safest bet for your one stop shopping destination), to purchase as many themed details as possible, including our table’s centerpieces which included felt hats, lace gloves, pastel dyed doilies and porcelain tea cups.

My personal group of Little Women

To ensure this to be a day to remember, I pulled a scene from Little Women, (making sure it had 7 different characters all in the same scene) and sent everyone their lines ahead of time so they would be off page. Set up an old wooden platform in our yard’s corner, hung red velvet curtains, rented wardrobe to enhance the experience and Wa La…instant theatrical performance!!!

Rules To Live By

Rules To Live By
I love all of them, ENJOY!
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.  Buy a lock if you have to.
3. Record your late night shows and get more sleep.
4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, “My purpose is to____ today.”
5. Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
6. Watch more movies, play more games and read more books than you did in the last year.
7. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
8. Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
9. Dream more while you are awake.
10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
11. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
13. Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
14. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a child.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
21. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
23. Don’t compare your life to other’s. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
24. Burn the candles, use the nice bed sheets, Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. What other people think of you is none of your business.
29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. So stop complaining about the weather, the job, the rents, etc, etc
31. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
32. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
33. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
34. The best is yet to come.
35. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
36. Do the right thing!
37. Call your family often.

Letting Go...

Question: I’m afraid if I finally forgive, will I be vulnerable to be hurt again?

Answer: Yes, I totally get it. I used to think the same thing. If I close my heart then no one can ever hurt me… right? Well when we close our heart, we chop off our connection to our intuition, to our instinct, our gut reactions, our capacity to see red flags. We become robots over analyzing everything in our minds, overthinking, second guessing, dissolving our confidence, doubting our capacity to trust ourselves, increasing our search for evidence to blame others and situations…

Sound familiar?

Yes, it’s a sucky life to live that way, one of fear, terror and panic if we were willing to slow down and really feel what happens when we let go.

There is a powerful Guided Mediation I created in both my men’s and women’s memberships… Letting Go… www.gethertosayyes.com/sayyes for men… and www.redefiningsexuality.com for women… it’s based on a mediation given to me from Ruby Bedi where she asked me to let go of all these horses. Just last night a private client from Alabama told me he thought this was foo foo when I taught it to him on a Full Day Intensive, but now having returned to his home town, he uses it daily and it’s his connection to peace and power.

So basically imagine you have all these reigns to horses of all the people you haven’t forgiven. And all these great relationships and experiences are passing you by… you can’t receive them because you’re holding onto the horses… and so in the guided mediation I ask you to let them go. This is super intense. When I did it, I mean REALLY did it, I cried and freaked out… I really thought I would die, get ‘hurt again’ as you said.

Yet what I noticed is that instead after the panic subsided, I felt whole, knowing, perceiving, intuitive, clear, calmly powerful. Safe. At peace.

From that space of finally letting go you also have access to the lessons of that experience… I can help you to claim and implement these lessons into your very being, your very life should you join the Live calls every other week in the Membership… and once we integrate the lessons into your essence… you may be hurt again, for people are human, not robots… but YOU will never suffer again, and each time bounce back stronger, wiser and more amazing than the time before.

Know you are loved,

Allana

There is simply no wardrobe piece more versatile than a scarf! So there is simply no wardrobe piece more suited for a mom than a scarf! A simple scarf works for what we need in this stage of life: budget-friendly, easily transformed with the flip of a wrist, washable and fashionable! In addition to the multiple ways you can wear a scarf around your neck; it can be used as a très chic fix for a bad hair day that leaves you easily confused with the best fashion icons; it can be worn tied around your handbag or in desperate times- used to cover a shivering child. Any way you tie it, a scarf is a wardrobe’s best friend!

I don’t know…there is just something about it: Une écharpe est très chic (a scarf is very chic). Get one! You’ll love the way you can take your wardrobe instantly into spring with it!

Sleep Your Way Skinny!

You've heard of skinny dipping...well now here's skinny sleeping!

You've heard of skinny dipping...well now here's skinny sleeping!

Being go-getter is great but skimping on sleep is not. AM workouts are great if your going to bed early enough (10pm or earlier). Recent studies show that women who slept seven hours or more were less likely to put on weight then women who didn’t. Those who slept only 6 hours were 12 percent more likely to gain weight…on average 33 pounds over 16 years. Other studies have shown that lack of sleep affects the levels of appetite hormones and may cause you to have a higher Body Mass Index (BMI).

Moral of the story….start counting those sheep an hour or two earlier each night and those workouts will start being a bit more effective!

Please let me know if you have any questions.
